Our Core Values

Respect

We believe that respect should be given and received freely at first, then maintained by both students and teachers by hard work, quality communication, and a commitment to practice honest and ethical actions.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to a high standard, and thus have had success in our own dancing careers. We have started Dance Lumiere with the intent to pass on our knowledge to you, the next generation of dancer. We will give you the best instruction, encourage practice and support you from day one to discover the best possible dancer within.

Achievement

We believe that the best way to achieve excellence is to test ourselves, which is why we are big supporters of undertaking medal exams and entering competitions. A coach of mine once said the a comp “was equivalent to 10 weeks practice”, a sentiment we wholeheartedly agree with.

Community

Dance Lumiere is first and foremost a community. Many people, many lives, with one thing in common: a love of dance. From experience a dance studio works best when everyone works together to create a positive and inspiring environment.

Inclusiveness

The world is a complex and beautiful place, and within it are people from many walks of life. We welcome you all to our studio, and expect our staff and students to be welcoming also. We will not tolerate any prejudice within our walls towards any race, religion, gender, sexuality, physical ability or appearance.

Safety

All our coaches hold working with children checks and are accredited dancers with DanceSport Australia.

We ensure that our teaching methods place a emphasis on safety, and while dancing is physical, we won’t put you at any increased risk of injury.

In the spirit of reconciliation Dance Lumiere acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples today.
